EDIT: Looks like the sale's expired now. I threw up this post a little late into it. Sorry guys. Hope a few of you managed to snag some of these on the cheap.

Two key differences from the previous Woot sale.

The base price for the GW2 headset is $99.99. Like before, if you don't like the white-orange combo with a big GW2 logo on the side but you want the headset, the all-white Flux version of this headset is also on sale for $12.99 (base price $69.99).

I cracked and bought a pair during the last sale. I use a Logitech G930 on my setup at home, but wanted a back-up pair. Overall, my impression is as follows--

Pros

  • Solid sound for the price. Seriously, for $13, this is a very solid budget headset. You'll get a good range of sound and bass. Not audiophile-levels of excellence--sound will seem a little "muddy" if you own high-end headsets or speakers, but it is very, very good for this discounted price and a definite step up from stock laptop and desktop speakers.
  • Quite comfortable for everyday use. The headset is very light and cushy and the headphones are reasonably wide.
  • Easily folds for travel. It packs up very nicely for sticking into a bag when you expect to need headphones away from home. It has a much smaller space requirement than my big G930 and I don't need to worry about accidentally crushing my headphones in the bag.

Cons

  • Even with such a wide frame, it is still a bit of a squeeze on big heads. If you're one of those individuals who scoffs every time you see a hat that says "fits all sizes" (that's me!), these headphones will put a bit of pressure on your head and will be uncomfortable after a few hours if you ever decide to do a heavy gaming session. If you don't have a big head, this won't be a problem, as the headset is quite wide and very light and padded.
  • The headphones are on-ear instead of over-ear. This is very much a preference thing, but most people I know (myself included) like over-ear headphones.
  • The microphone is on the line and is remarkably average. It'll pick up a little bit of background noise and will slightly produce that "muffled" filter you'll be familiar with from cheaper microphones. Still better than a built-in mic on laptops. Only has a mic-mute button. No volume control or "sound profile" buttons.
