This is a late response, but I've recently built a rig in an Alice and I started w/ something like what you're suggesting, but since my motherboard has plenty of USB ports, and I also have a hub on my desk, I went with two of these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZKM1WX4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which I like much better than the 3.5 bay insert.
