As for the window bars, I’m having some trouble trying to find something that’ll cover the entire window, as well as not requiring drilling. I’ve seen others with similar questions and typically, landlords aren’t exactly “crazy” about letting people install window bars because inquiring renters may find it concerning since the bars are kind of suggesting that the area is bad. Another reason is that there are safety inspection requirements and laws that may be broken if the bars are not set up correctly, such as not being removable in case of a fire (I read about all of this after I made this post lol).

The cameras that I found, for anyone that may be wondering, are Two Pack Wi-Fi Cameras - Amazon. They’re available at Walmart, Amazon, etc. I was considering possibly putting one on the window stool inside, which would allow me to see, but wouldn’t necessarily ward off burglars because they may not be able to see it. I’m considering a Ring doorbell camera, which would be visible to other and record them if needed. They make a version for apartments that don’t require drilling, wiring, etc and can just, I think, stick to your door. The people across from me have one (or something similar). Therefore, I don’t think I really NEED to get the other tenants to agree on it or anything.

The window alarms were considered, but I’m more worried about someone breaking through the windows, rather than opening them. I mean, it can’t hurt to get that alarm, I just don’t want to spend the money if it’ll never be used - but at the same time, nobody ever plans to get robbed lol.

I think I’ll continue to try to find some sort of window bar. I just can’t drill or alter the original unit. I’m wondering if someone makes something that covers the window on the inside and can be pumped up like a jack to keep a strong hold that can’t just be pushed down. If I end up finding something, I’ll put it here in case you (I’m not sure if you’re still renting or if your experience was from the past) or anyone else would like to know.
