These are the two masks that offer the best protection. I wear eye protection as well even if just a pair of reading glasses is better than nothing. There are so many bs masks out there it’s best to buy the real thing.
Retail-branded packs became available via Home Depot and Amazon recently. HD a week or two ago, Amazon this week.
Totally get not feeling comfortable with buying from Amazon! I still want to point out that on 3M's website listing for the Aura respirators, they include a link to their Amazons storefront that should be legit.
Amazon is a licensed distributor for 3M. Also the Aura would be a lot of work to counterfeit.
That Amazon link on the 3M website is no longer working.
A shortened version of this link sends to the product page for a 9205+ sold by LINQ USA (which in turns give a different link for a 3M Amazon store), no idea if that page is where 3M intends to send the reader, though.
Indeed. Lots of great NIOSH-approved respiratory protection products up on Amazon. Distribution partner for 3M Halyard. Stick with major domestic brands and "ships from, sold by amazon.com" items only. Avoid marketplace sellers, foreign manufacturers, and foreign standards (KN95, KF94, FFP2 are risky bets) -- Current in stock recommendations:

Dear /u/smar6061:
For a long time, the US government CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) said "please save the N95 masks for hospital staff". Early on in the pandemic, there may have been merit to doing so. Nowadays, I don't think there is. I encourage every American to wear an N95 mask, or (at the very least) a KF94 mask.
3M has ramped up mask production significantly in the past couple of years. (Source.)
Many hospitals have started reusing N95 masks. This saves a lot of masks. So, America may now more N95 masks than it needs.
Anyway, even if there is a shortage, it's of 3M N95 masks.
I would encourage you, if you're willing, to get yourself some non-medical 3M N95 masks (e.g. 3M 9205+, 9210+, or 8511). You can get 3M 9205+ from Amazon (these are not counterfeit) or at many Home Depot stores.
Do not buy medical N95 masks. The most common are the 3M 1860 and the 3M 1870+. Please buy non-medical N95 masks. Anything you get from Home Depot will be non-medical. The 3M 9205+, 9210+, and 8511 are also non-medical.
If you're unwilling to wear 3M N95 masks, I would at least encourage you to buy some other N95 masks (e.g. Honeywell).
If you're unwilling to wear N95 masks, I would encourage you to at least buy non-counterfeit KN95 masks (e.g. Powecom masks from Office Depot) or KF94 masks.
N95 / KF94 / KN95 masks are reusable, but not washable.
N95 masks have two headbands. KF94 and some KN95 masks have ear loops. Masks with headbands will protect you best.
No vaccine is perfect. Please, protect yourself from the Delta variant as much as possible.
What are your thoughts?
You could buy the white 3M 9205 N95 masks from Amazon — or, better yet, the white 3M 8211 N95 masks with a full face seal that mercuric5i2 recommended. Then you could cover your white N95 mask with a black cloth or surgical mask.
Alternatively, you could buy black Moldex N95 masks from Zoro.com or elsewhere.
No matter which N95 masks you choose, always do a user seal check on your setup after donning your mask(s). Inhale suddenly and sharply, and make sure you feel a slight vacuum inside the mask.
Why do you insist on ordering from Amazon.com and not any other website?
