I've had a pair for over a year, so a couple things for interested owners.
- Yes, they are really really great reference headphones. Quite flat.
- They have strong clamping force, so if you get headaches from pressure, be aware.
- Because of clamping pressure, put headphones on first, glasses ontop of pads.
- The pads themselves aren't very deep and flatten over time. Consider getting some replacement pads. Like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZGFVEUE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 makes a unbelievable difference in comfort.
- Just like with any headphones. Don't do a final mix on them, use speakers, monitors, and other sound devices to compare how things sound. The sound of the M50x's causes you to hear quieter sounds clearer and thus tend to do more heavy ducking during editing when you don't need to.
- They are some of the lowest impedance headphones so you can also use them on pretty much any device without an amp.
