That may work, but I could see them making a mess when you try to remove them. The benefit to the real sand anchors is that you can release one side, then the other side kind of slips out.
It'd be really easy to make if you have access to a sewing machine. Do you have a friend or relative that could make these for you? Too bad these aren't still available.

That last example is super expensive, but I've bought that type from another company for MUCH less before. Unfortunately so long ago that I can't remember where I got them.
