I can tell many of these guys have never owned a good pair of comtacs or a newer one to know what they're talking about in reference to comtacs atleast.
If your comtacs are single lead; just buy this and be done with it:

Works flawlessly on my Comtac 5's
I don't know how well that works with the older 3's . If yours has a lead already then it should be plug and play. I'm going based on the model you listed. It should literally be plug and play. I'm not sure what you're referring to with the 6 pin setup though if it's any different than what I linked you to.
If you're trying to convert hearing defenders into a communications headset then yeah you're gonna have issues. If that's the case then trade in\sell the 3's to a larper and get a 5 or 6 and this cable. Job done.
Fyi: I don't like the dorky david clarks or bose headsets when the comtacs do well already and I can also use them in duty and on range in any weather.
Low Impedance to High Impedance... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TWD1QNS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought this when I started my PPL…works perfectly in the trainer 172 with my mil-issue David Clarks.
