u/DuwayneWebPro has a lot of good things to say about em. He might get some bucks if you buy through his referral link https://black.jmyntrn.com/ (I have nothing to do with him, I just enjoy his projects)
Its a bit spendy, but the ODBLinkMX+ is highly regarded by pretty much everyone. It works on all platforms and with most every ODBII app out there, including Car Scanner. I have personally verified Car Scanner compatibility on my personal iPhone with my Mach E, so you should definitely be good to go there.
I've owned both of these. The much more expensive one works better with the Duramax engine, giving information on regens. In general look for ones that work with multiple apps.
Not sure where your price is from but Amazon has these things for $150 or less. Works for read and write with ForScan
Here's the nice one. The cheap one I found at Autozone or Napa or something years ago, but any would work for that job.
The nice one is compatible with the Carista app.
I got the OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner for iPhone, Android, and Windows
edit: Mine is a Gen 2 if that makes a difference, but I don't think so.
