Can you store a power rack? Not recommending that particular model, just found the first one on Amazon. If you need it smaller, you can probably build one.

The benefit of the power rack is that you can safely get out of a squat and you can put your bench inside so that the safety rods keep you from getting caught underneath. If you can't store that, then you could do use a regular squat stand and practice safely dumping the weight off your back, preferably with a platform and bumper plates.

If you don't have protection for your bench press, I'd recommend that you not bench by yourself.

I have this MUCH cheaper version:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VLRVSC/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and I haven't had any issues with stability, and I see few complaints in the reviews. Admittedly, it doesn't have the lat pull (substitutes a pull-up bar), but it comes down to what you want to spend. You absolutely do not have to spend $1100 for quality. Mine's $373 and can handle a few hundred pounds easy, so while I understand you may not want to go bargain-basement like me, I wouldn't go out and blow $1100 before you even get to benches, bars, and weights (shit adds up).

P.S. The biggest stability problem in racks, as in all furniture, come from improper assembly. No matter what you buy, put all the bolts in first, then tighten them. If you tighten the initial bolts before putting in the rest, you can end up with uneven furniture that wobbles.
