I paid $5 for this speed rope. The handles are cheap plastic but the bearings spin pretty freely. The rope is only 2oz which is too light for me, but the rope will never put enough strain on the handles or bearings to break them.
I paid $17 for this weighted rope. It's one of the few I could find on Amazon where the weight was in the rope and not in the handles. The handles are good quality aluminum. The bearings are not great - one handle spins decently but not quite freely and the other handle doesn't even spin decently. The rope is 100% functional and meets my limited needs, but I would want something with better quality if I spent more time jumping.
I use both of these ropes indoors on a mat. I only jump as part of a HIIT routine or circuit training - no tricks or anything fancy, and never more than a couple minutes or a couple hundred jumps at a time.
There are some decent affordable suggestions in this post.
