Those are super uncomfortable even without a beard. Spend the extra money and get a more substantial mask like this.
I would caveat this heavily that it really depends on what you're trying to protect yourself from. If all you're doing is typical carpentry work (e.g. no fumes, stains, spray foam, etc) then I'm a big fan of the Elipse half-face respirator by GVS.
I've used the 3M for a while and I enjoy the lighter weight and low profile that the GVS has. The standard filters are P100, so they're good for all types of particulates and silica dust.
GVS elipse off amazon (link) was my last purchase, I had some existing 3M ahead of the pandemic.
It's a really nice small mask. I love it for home improvement. If you get the case too it's great for keeping in a backpack or go bag for travel
This is the one I use. Good quality and I haven't had to replace the filters yet with my minimal use of it.

Put the respirator on, then put on the face shield?
Just so we're on the same page, this is what I think a half mask respirator is: https://www.amazon.com/GVS-SPR457-Elipse-Respirator-Medium/dp/B013SIIBFQ?th=1as well as a face shield: https://www.amazon.com/3M-90028-Face-Shield/dp/B000BO6RIE
