If you go with the binoculars you will need to mount them on a tripod. 25x is way too much magnification for handheld use. If you're going to use them handheld, consider 10x or lower power, like 7x50 or 9x60. If you get a tripod and binocular mount adapter, they will work. But, If I were buying a pair of binoculars to get started, I would want a lower power set that I could use either handheld or tripod mounted, so I wouldn't recommend 25x70s.
If I were choosing between these two, I would go with the tabletop dob. It's so simple to use and you will be able to see much more than in the binos. plan to spend a few dollars on a red flashlight and a planisphere too, and maybe a copy of the Pocket Sky Atlas.
Also, definitely google to find your local astronomy club. You will find friends and mentors there that can answer questions and help you through the rough spots. You will also have an opportunity to look through other peoples equipment at star parties which is very helpful when trying to decide on a particular eyepiece or other equipment. And as you advance, you will be able to share your new knowledge with others who are just getting started. I wish I had hooked up with my local club sooner than I did.
