However if you are going to record to a computer then to make it worthwhile get a better AT-LP120XUSB turntable with USB output.
No. Avoid cheap suitcases and all in ones or anything with the same cheap $5 mechanism.
VPRO 3100 $99 $49 on sale is a good enough step up from the cheapo suitcase player.
Plus a pair of powered speakers if you don't already have any speakers.

They all have an audio cable input for the turntable and Bluetooth for streaming digital music.
Yep, avoid the cheap $5 mechanism in cheap suitcase, tabletop, standing or all in ones.
As long as that pink thing doesn't skip on your records it shouldn't damage them however the cheap mechanisms often have playback and skipping issues and don't sound very good so you are not getting much sound quailty out of the records that they are capable or providing.
What is your budget, $150, $200, $400 or more?
VPRO3100 $49 on sale or AT-LP60X $105 on sale both add a full size platter, a diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge connected to an RIAA phono preamp, all of which the cheap mechanisms lack.
Connect either one to powered speakers with an audio cable input for the turntable and Bluetooth for streaming music:
Compact 4" mid bass driver speakers for a small room or a desktop setup:
Larger 5.25" mid bass driver speakers for a small to medium size room:

Or start with the better Neumi speakers first for digital music then add the better AT-lPW30TK turntable later.
It won't ruin your records, but it won't sound that good, either. If you want a dirt-cheap turntable that actually sounds acceptable, get a $49 VPRO-3100 and a pair of powered speakers: https://www.amazon.com/Victrola-Record-Player-2-Speed-Turntable/dp/B07G1Z7XPF
I have a cheap Denver suitcase record player
Did or can you try playing the Gorillaz album on a non cheap record player?
You could try wet cleaning the record and making sure the cue lever is all the way down however the issue is often that the cheap $5 mechanism found in cheap suitcase players just can't handle modern bass heavy records.
Most anything better to play the record fine will be a component turntable with a better tonearm with a diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge connected to a built in RIAA phono preamp which the suitcase lacks.
Including these $100 turntables on sale for $50 that are a step up from the cheap suitcase:
How much is the suitcase player? It's recommended to avoid them if you can.
By the time you buy a used suitcase player, buy a power cord, buy a new stylus and find out that it may not play very well, may skip, and doesn't sound very good if it even works at all since it has the cheapest possible components that often fail, consider buying a new VPRO 3100 on sale for $59 that adds a full size platter, has a new belt, has a new diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge connected to an RIAA phono preamp, and includes a warranty or can be returned in 30 days, all of which the cheap suitcase lacks.
You're welcome.
Or even lower cost options that are still decent enough to start with:

The small platter is the least of the issues with those type of cheapest table top or all in one turntables with built in speakers.
For a low budget consider a better $99 turntable on sale for $49 plus a better pair of passive speakers.
VPRO 3100 has a full size platter, is semi automatic and adds a diamond tip stylus, an MM moving magnet cartridge and an RIAA phono preamp, all of which the cheap Udreamer lacks.

VRPO 3100 $99 $49.
Does he already have any speakers to connect to the turntable or do you also need under $100 speakers?
Poor sound quailty from the cheap $5 mechanism.
An inexpensive step up is the VPRO-3100 $99 $49 on sale that adds a diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge and an RIAA phono preamp for better sound quailty and playback.
It's done, toast, now you have an excuse to get a proper turntable.

If he may already has a turntable connect it to a USB interface with Phono or Line inputs.
Turntable plus USB phono preamp:
Connect any of the above to Art Phono USB $99 or Behringer U-PHONO UFO202 $25.
Turntables with direct USB output:
Cheap suitcases and all in ones are best to avoid since they don't sound very good and often have playback issues.
An inexpensive step up is the VPRO-3100 $99 $49 on sale that adds a diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge and an RIAA phono preamp for better sound quailty and playback.
You are trying to record the records played on a suitcase player to a computer?
Most suitcase players already have line level output, not phono output, so you don't connect it to a phono preamp.
Suitcase > RCA input USB output audio interface > computer.
Cheap suitcases have low sound quality so it may not even be worth recording.
Instead of spending $25 on the USB audio interface you would be better off spending $62 on the VPRO 3100 turntable on sale that has USB output and adds a diamond tip stylus on an MM moving magnet cartridge connected to an RIAA phono preamp for better sound quality since a cheap suitcase lacks all those features that are necessary for at least decent to good sound quality.

Even a $39 suitcase player won't ruin your records, so don't worry about that. But obviously you should want something that delivers better audio quality. The VPRO-3100 is currently on sale for $49 (brand new) and with an Audio-Technica cartridge and properly counterweighted tonearm, it's a steal at that price: https://www.amazon.com/Victrola-Record-Player-2-Speed-Turntable/dp/B07G1Z7XPF/
It's not. What cartridge and tonearm would you even try to install? Also, you would still be stuck with the cheap motor and small plastic platter.
The Journey and ITVS-750 seem to both have the same inexpensive mechanism.
The ITVS-750 may have a better built in speaker so it sounds at least better than the smaller suitcase player.
The sound quality of both of them is limited by the inexpensive ceramic cartridge.
Make sure the cue lever is down all the way. The bass heavy records won't skip on a better turntable with a better tonearm. The small bottle of cleaner may not do much, especially without a full rinse. Full soak wet clean to clean out the grooves and make sure it's not dirty records causing skipping.
If you are low on budget but want better playback and sound quality then get a low cost component turntable and a pair of low cost starter powered speakers.
VPRO 3100 $49 on sale from $99 has a full size platter, is semi automatic and adds a diamond tip stylus, an MM moving magnet cartridge and an RIAA phono preamp, all of which the Journey+ lacks.
