TOSLINK optical is usually that square shaped end, yep, but you're just looking for a 3.5mm adapter, which snaps onto the end of a square-shaped end. Here's one from Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-102671-Toslink-Female-Adapter/dp/B001V5HQAU

I did see plenty of hits of cables with both different ends, too. Maybe you just need to search for "TOSLINK 3.5mm adapter" and get some more helpful hits that way.

First learned about these on Macbooks like 15 years ago. Had no idea. The adapters/cables are not typically easy to find in stores these days (what is?), but Amazon...

Assuming one has regular Toslink cables lying around. I also just find it more convenient to have adapters I can use with any length cable.
