I have fouhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parabolic_microphonend some mics like this that use Bluetooth to send the information to my phone, but it is clunky because I need to have the attachment plugged into my phone's usb-c port (so could not use while charging, for example). I am not sure why it wouldn't just work with software downloadable on the phone itself.

A lot going on here with a lot of great advice. I can tell you they do make USB-C to audio out dongles that also charge while working. Here's one.

I searched "usb c audio adapter with charging." I honestly don't know what you're trying to do but it jumped out at me, you saying can't simultaneously charge with USB audio dongle. False!! Lol. Good luck with your project. :) Have fun.

Maybe just grab one of these and act casual?

Typical uses of this microphone include nature sound recording such as recording bird calls, field audio for sports broadcasting, and eavesdropping on conversations, for example in espionage and law enforcement. Parabolic microphones were used in many parts of the world as early as World War II, especially by the Japanese.
