I can weigh in here, as I recently bought my basic equipment from Amazon too.
Rather than the Howard Leight Impact Sport Muffs mentioned, which didn't work well for my ears, and which I ended up returning, I went with Clear Armor Safety Muffs. They are not electronic, which means no voice amplification, but no batteries either.
And for me, they just formed a much better seal than the HLs.
I double that up with SureFire 4s as inside the ear protection. These work better for me than foam plugs or the Howard Leight Honeywells.
After reading into it, I decided that at least for indoor use, I want to go double protection every time. I'm still fairly young and want to preserve my hearing indefinitely.
For Safety glasses, I went with Howard Leight UVEX Vapor II clear lenses. These are nice as I ride a scooter around town , and satisfy the requirement for un-tinted eye protection in low light conditions. They seems comfortable and I've had no issues.
All of these are a step up from the very cheapest options in category, but still economically priced.
Also, here is a video from nutnfancy about his recommended ear protection which helped sell me on the Clear Armor's.
While you're on Amazon, you might also want to grab some targets. These are the ones I ordered. They're not reactive, but are still higher visibility to me than basic white paper targets.
