The standard glass for wine sensory research are ISO / INAO glasses. They are small, sturdy, tulip shaped glasses with adequate headspace dimensions for both white and red wines, distillates, and beer.
ISO / INAO glasses can be purchased from Amazon and other retailers and are generally half the price of luxury glasses like Riedel. If they are good enough for the worlds' leading wine scientists, they're good enough for you.
I would just get these: http://www.amazon.com/Ravenscroft-Crystal-Essentials-International-Tasting/dp/B00CISXFCC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463346016&sr=8-1&keywords=iso+tasting+glasses
Much better than mason jars for tasting.
We use these at the distillery and I love using em for amari, wine, even a martini when my Nick & Nora is dirty.
