I also had a hard time with extending the USB 3.0 on my ASRock Taichi motherboard. I bought both a 6 feet and 10 feet Cable Matters USB 3.0 extension cable. The 10 feet would get static as soon as it is plugged in and the 6 feet would get it after a few minutes.
I ended up getting this: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1545327630&sr=8-9&keywords=powered+usb+3.0+hub.
This fixed the issue with the 6 feet extension cable but now the 10 feet would get the static after a few minutes instead of right away. I've used it for hours at a time without getting that static with the 6 feet cable.
I also want to mention the USB hub works with or without plugging in the power adapter that came with it. It doesn't seem to make a difference.
Using a powered Usb 3.0 hub worked for me when I had this exact issue. I used this one specifically: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM
The mouse and keyboard are connected to two of the ports on the usb hub and the usb hub is connected to an otg cable which converts usb to micro usb (as i have an older phone). I got the hub at a local tech shop for around 10$ , only found it online in the indian amazon (sadly its unavailable right now) here's an amazon link :https://www.amazon.in/eCart-MAXICOM-Hi-Speed-Individual-Switches/dp/B079JGB848 Or the most similar one i found is this one:https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?keywords=4+port+usb+hub&qid=1581454562&sr=8-12
oh but the csl dd takes power from a seprate psu right, or do all the components just take that much power to run?
or is it better to get one with less ports?

Dunno if it will help, but I have an Odyssey + and this is what I use:
I use this one. It's powered externally.
The issue you run into with the wii u is that it doesn't have enough power to run an external hard drive.
So you need an external hard drive that has its own power supply/plug-in.
Or some people also say using a y cord will work. But I have heard that sometimes they work sometimes they don't it depends on what hard drive you get.
Or you need something like this which allows you to use an external hard drive that doesn't have it's own power supply.
My sister uses the Sabrent on her wii u and it works, she has a marvel avengers assemble 2tb seagate game drive. So I know for a fact that this works with the wii u.
The drive that she uses is on sale right now on woot for 50 dollars. https://computers.woot.com/offers/seagate-2tb-marvel-ps4-external-hard-drive-4?ref=mwj_sh_cp_6_bs
You -absolutely- can have interference with certain peripherals on USB Hubs. One I remember clearly having issues was quite a few Saitek/Logitech devices, like the X-55/56.
As for recommendations, Sabrent USB hubs are awesome. https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM
The individual power buttons let you turn off devices when you don't want/need them, such as in games where they interfere with controls.
Here's the powered USB hub I've used for about 5 months now with no problems.

Well, by "no problems", I mean I don't count the constantly plugging, unplugging, and replugging in different forms til the IPad picks it up, but I don't blame the hub for that.
Edit: Whoops, somehow i missed the "rechargeable" part. That would be pretty useful.
I use an hdmi extension cable with this displayport adapter and a usb 3 extension cable with this powered usb 3.0 hub. It's worked out really good, the powered hub solved the audio static issue, I got the recommendation here, I think.
