Just so you know there are dozens of high-end tactical flashlight manufacturers and there have been lights capable of more than 1000 lumens for years now. For something a bit smaller you can get in the range of 500-800 lumens very easily.

Fenix is my personal favorite brand, this newest TK22 model will do almost 1000 lumens on just one 18650.

You are entirely right though that the bike lights posted in this thread are most likely much less than 1000 lumens. I'd be very impressed.

My suggestion to anyone who needs a bike like is to go with a tactical flashlight and a mount for it. Solid metal machined body, optically correct glass, and many of them are literally strong enough to survive being rolled over by a tank. Mine has suffered multiple high-velocity impacts onto solid concrete/asphalt (a couple of them were just to test it) and while it got some scratches, it works just as well as the day I got it.

Should also mention that they are totally waterproof. While it won't survive a trip to the bottom of the ocean, rain/mud won't be a problem and they are completely submersible. All for a bit more than twice the price of the bar-mounted bike lights.
