Your place reminds me very much of my brother's place :) I couldn't sleep, so I pretty much designed the whole room, how I would probably style it and make it feel more like home. I don't know if you like green, I just choose it because of the green books on your shelf. But it should work with any other colour I think. I found that you just need a dominant colour and then you can easily combine it with earth/nature colours and textures like wood, plants, metallic objects and seashells for example.
