I would definitely check in with a dermatologist to see what your options are. Making sure your diabetes is as controlled as possible will help with the healing and stuff fading. You could even do laser treatments on the scars if they really bother you. But I have had success with mederma before to help with the appearance of scars from past surgeries. Just make sure the wounds are healed before using it and ideally get approval from a dermo or doc before starting use. This is the one I used, and it can be picked up on Amazon or even Walmart!

Good luck and I hope you find some answers!
Definitely get that ice machine action in some form. Would highly recommend asking the surgeon about crutches before buying, they sent me home with a pair. Also ask the surgeon about a brace if you don’t already have one. I think a couple items that could be pretty beneficial in addition:
Gel ice pack (for when your past the machine point but still need cold therapy which is pretty much anytime after workouts and such helps reduce swelling)- Magic gel reusable ice pack large
At home stim unit- I think this really helped with my quad activation pre and post surgery. By 2-3 months I didn’t need it as much could turn into a fun drinking game with your friends. - electric stim machine
Knee cast coverknee cast cover for the shower Scar gel (ask your surgeon when your cleared to use this, it was 5-6 weeks for me) and when you do apply it every day, I do after my morning shower. It seems to be workin. - [moderma scar gel ](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PQBEAI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4Y0BMB7Y2PF4PYWBVFBM?psc=1
