In the past four years of regular hot yoga practice, I've gone through three of these cork mats (link below) and am about to order my fourth. They do have a rubber underlay, but all you will smell is cork, especially at first, a smell I quite like. It's very comfortable and strangely grounding ntm the alignment markers, which are very handy. I sweat profusely as well and simply wipe it down with the lavender cloth provided at the end of class, as it's naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial so it doesn't ever smell funky. This is all I will practice hot yoga on, I can't stand to use a towel or yogitoes. The only drawback is having to replace them every sixteen months or so...I saturate mine thoroughly with sweat every practice, but if you were only using it for Vin I imagine it would last much longer. If anyone knows of a more durable cork mat that they use for hot yoga, please let me know. I'm honestly surprised they aren't more popular, IMO they are far superior to any other yoga mat.
