Could definitely work, I personally am more comfortable using a tlc drive as my boot because of it's higher endurance but it's up to you.

For a boot drive I'd definitely spend the extra 5 to get tlc, and if your motherboard supports gen 4 then there's that bonus too. It says it's the laptop version but I'm pretty sure that just means it has a smaller heatsink which isn't really all that important anyways, it should still work just fine in your desktop.
