Something doesn't add up! IEC clearly states that 57 mw/cm2 is safe only for <100 seconds in consumer IR/NIR lamps. Either shops instruct to use IR protective glasses! Or at irradiance from range devices are meant to be used by instructions is lower than 57 cm/mw2!
Gembared says: Dr. Hamblin says contradictory info: https://gembared.com/blogs/musings/what-distance-should-we-be-from-our-red-light-panel-a-history-lesson He is also advisor for Joovv. I heard he is leading scientists on this, which doesn't automatically make him veritable source! But I didn't have time to do research, because I have chronic pain and I can't even read...
First he said: he puts it on the skin, because he is more efficient. And then in some interview he was supposedly laughing at mere concept standing in front of panel... I also read from Gembared: it is used in studies to have contact with the skin, as if it is from distance it causes light diffusion and is not that effective! But in commercial models reason it is used from distance may be EMI, or too strong irradiance!
Not sure what to trust at this point. I would rather get glasses which block significant portion of red light, but I can't find any at all, or 2 weird from Amazon, which are not for red light therapy primarily.
I wonder if something like this would suffice, they are transparent: https://www.amazon.com/Angrycat-beauty-patient-protectve-treatment/dp/B095K2NWLP/?th=1&psc=1 They are meant for laser supposedly 200-2000nm wavelength range. I don't know about laser treatments tho, not sure if they would be suitable for red light therapy IR+NIR.
