I’ve only tried Makartt, so I don’t have any recommendations for what will be easy to file off, but I do have some other tips for removing polygel.
You can get decent quality cheap efiles off Amazon which help with taking them off a lot. I file off all my gel polish then soak the polygel. This is the efile I have, it’s $23 and I’ve gotten great use out of it. I highly recommend getting an efile if you’re going to start doing polygel nails. They really help with blending the cuticle area into the natural nail and smoothing the underside of the polygel. I wasn’t sure if I would even use mine when I got it, but it is super handy to have.
I also recommend getting some soaking clips like these. You put the cotton ball soaked in acetone on your nail and then put the clip on your finger. They are SOOOOO much easier to use than foil, it’s ridiculous. I found mine at Walmart for like 5 bucks and they make the removal process a breeze.
Finally, make sure you have a good metal scraping tool for getting off the polygel. There’s nothing more frustrating then trying to use a wooden cuticle stick to scrape off the gooey polygel. I got a metal gel polish removing tool from the dollar tree and it makes my life a lot easier.
I started polygel over the summer with a big bundle of stuff, so if you want any other tips on what you need to get started, feel free to shoot me a DM :)
