I have the S36 mat as well. It's nice (but more expensive than the same-size Gorilla mat, which I have not tried). It weighs about 20 pounds I think, and obviously remains four feet long when you roll it. So it's certainly portable but a bit cumbersome. I don't think it would work in your bag (well, it looks like it'll go in there, but would stick out above your head as it is 20 inches wider than the Nike mat). Also the underside of it has a raised dot pattern that I expect would be tough to get all the sand out of, if you were to use it directly on the beach.
