If you are trying to recharge the battery, it is much easier and better to use the product designed specifically to do this: a trickle charger. Usually about $20-40, trickle chargers are very easy to use. You attach them to the battery much like when you are jumping a car and plug them in. They charge slowly, so best to do it overnight. They shut off when they've charged the battery.
