Start with decent reviews:

He is funny, and he has no-nonsense sarcastic reviews. So good advice, but don't take offense to his attitude.

GMRS license is relatively easy to obtain. $35.00 sadly goes into the Federal General fund, not to the FCC, to improve their pain in the rear website. Yes, I'm licensed.

New review. Btech GMRS. $154 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkk5hY3hM2k

It does cover NOAA. It allows VHF/UHF scanning (NOAA, and old pilot, so I like to scan 121.5 and 406 for emergency transponders. Irony only time I heard one was a plane parked for months in a hangar and started transmitting when the ELT malfunctioned.

This also explains why I like GMRS for off-roading. NOAA should always be part of your GMRS radio. I've been on clear sunny Texas roads. Storm 40 miles away caused flash flooding (we heard the rumble, and suddenly there was a 4' rolling dirt cloud coming down a wash. Water with so much dirt in front of it took me a minute to realize it was water).
