If you use the metal plate it won't break your phone magnetically or anything. You just obviously can't use wireless charging or Magsafe accessories when you have something physically blocking it. Just note that the back of the iPhone will probably get scratches from the plate.
You could get the Apple Magsafe charger and buy (or 3d print) a vent attachment for it.
What I did was buy one of these, since I need to connect by cord anyway. Same thing with wireless charging is also a decent option probably. Doubt the brand matters as long as it has plenty of purchases, ratings and reviews.
I got this one from Spigen back in Oct 2021 and have had 0 issues. You do lose your magsafe charger, but I think that largely would solve any weak magnet issues you're experiencing.
