I got the 64 gig ram kit from corsair here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09X5SNVF9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and a 2 TB samsung pro, on sale but still expensive and fast, from here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHJJ9Y77?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details The drive needed to be initialized in drive management on windows after I was able to boot with it and the new ram installed. So far, so good. I thought I'd share what I learned and witnessed. My particular build has an extra ssd slot with the required metal cover/heatsink, I was concerned I would have to source the extra part. When I powered up after installing the ram I expected a black screen for 2 minutes and then having to put date and/or time in the bios since I disconnected the battery, that happened when I did an exploratory disconnect previously. This time was different. I'm slightly fuzzy about some of the details. I had a black screen for about 2 minutes with the fans firing up every 30 seconds. The power button/ alien head started flashing red red red blue blue or the reverse of that, I forgot. I'd read that this indicated the ram was not compatible but then I had the alienware splash screen and the text F2 for bios, F12 for boot options. Pressing F2 didn't do anything so I held F2 and held the power button for about 20 plus seconds I was hoping to enter bios by doing so but to my surprise I booted to windows. No prompt to reset time/date. I fired up lightroom and photoshop, kept them running and played quake champions for about half an hour. Task manager reported up to 50% use of the 64 gigs of ram and everything seems ok. So far I'm happy.
