We use Synology NAS for work:

https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm

e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0855LMP81?tag=obrorg-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

But they have bigger bays available for more scaling, if need be:

e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087Z34F3R?tag=p00935-20&ascsubtag=07HVyOcWhqaNwqMjbwfccRz

We also pay for their cloud/cloud backup service for peace of mind, it's not terribly expensive.

I have an A7RIV, not an alpha, and I have a lifetime of photos stored. That used to be easy, but with the A7RIV there was no question I needed more space.

I now use a NAS. That's short for "Network Attached Storage".

It takes a little more prep, but it adds a lot of safety (redundancy), lots more space, and no disks hanging off your laptop except when you need them.

So I use the 1TB space in my laptop for "working" area, i.e. just downloaded shots and editing, and when I'm done processing a batch I just move them all to the NAS.

I can also just upload directly from the camera to the NAS via FTP.

Newegg will probably post it up on the actual release day.

Network Attached Storage (NAS) is simply a computer with lots of hard drive space attached to my home network. Plex is an application that can interface with a NAS to provide a nice UI for a media library.

The NAS holds my media files, and I use Plex to play them. Blu Ray / 4k BluRay are high resolution digital video formats.
