Here's a LitRPG Lite story just released for you guys. Path of Relics has the stats, the leveling, and the life or death stakes, just without the tables.
This won't be for everybody (more on that below), but if you like thrilling fights, weak to strong progression, and a lore-rich fantasy setting, I think you'll enjoy.
Below the description I'll fill you in on a few haves/don't haves for the story so you can see if it's for you or not...
____
He entered the contest to win cash...
Now millions could die.
Random gigs and ramen noodles... that's how out-of-shape gamer Terry survives the job-starved future of 2044. Until he's accepted into the Path of Relics tournament—the most anticipated virtual reality RPG event of the decade—where he has the chance to win some real loot.
But does he have a fighting chance against the world's top Active-VR athletes?
Not to mention the ancient dungeons, puzzles, scorpion-wolves, and all-too-realistic NPCs the game world throws at him. And just how advanced is this "Portal Rig" that lets him physically experience the fantasy world as if he were transported there?
Worse, could his suspicions be true?
Are the strange and deadly malfunctions plaguing Manhattan somehow triggered by Path of Relics?
Now, outmatched and exhausted, can Terry's mysterious ability to level-up quickly and his meager martial arts skills help him avert catastrophe in the real world?
You'll love this LitRPG Lite / Gamelit adventure because of its action, secrets, real-world stakes, and compelling weak-to-strong progression.
Lose yourself in a fantasy world of dead gods, lost civilizations, and forgotten lore, made possible by the advanced technology of 2044.

Is This for You?
If you're a fan of crunch, Path of Relics is more on the creamy side. As I mentioned above, it's got stats and leveling and character progression that's vital to the story, but it's merged seamlessly into the narrative instead of using stat tables.
That said, you do get well-researched future tech, deep lore, combat, and an engaging mystery (well, so say my early readers). Going for a fresh take on the VR LitRPG genre. I hope you'll give it a shot!

So I know, the cover doesn't exactly look sci-fi...
This story is a Gamelit mashup. Think Ready Player One, Lord of the Rings, and Indiana Jones blended together.
I'll include the description below, but if you like near-future SciFi with thriller elements, believable tech, and high-stakes action, you'll likely enjoy Path of Relics. I hope you'll check it out.
