(Happy cake day, /u/fantasywritersbot)
Only about 2k words this week. It's weird, but it's been time to really get my feet under me on marketing and whatnot, rather than continuing to publish as a top priority. Starting today though, it's back to the manuscript.
For those of you who have never done much with marketing copy, it's a pain in the ass. You can cut corners (which has always been my go-to move on copywriting), but crafting short, snappy product descriptions that get attention isn't easy. Still, with new covers coming, it made sense to clean up Amazon product descriptions. I also needed to start integrating notes for people to come join my email list and get their free books (anyone who joins can download the first book of any of my series).
The longer I write, the clearer it becomes that the most important part of "being a writer" is marketing. You can write beautiful books, but if no one reads them, you can't earn a living at it. But you can write decent books, market the hell out of them, and wind up with a movie deal. I may or may not ever end up with a movie/TV deal, but I'd like to put more of my books into the hands of people who'll enjoy them.
For those who like free things. Alien Racer is free through the end of today on Amazon. Grab a copy. Even if you never get around to reading it, I wouldn't mind the help in the free rankings!
