Hello, everyone!

The first book in my Arcane Ascension series, Sufficiently Advanced Magic, is a Kindle Daily Deal on Amazon US and Canada right now, meaning it's discounted down to 0.99.

Sufficiently Advanced Magic is a JRPG inspired progression fantasy series, taking place in on the continent of Kaldwyn, where magic can be earned by undertaking Judgments -- trials inside massive towers filled with traps, monsters, and treasure.

Corin Cadence, our protagonist, seeks the power necessary to find his long-missing brother, Tristan, who disappeared into the Serpent Spire for a Judgment five years before the story begins. While most believe that those who vanish during a Judgment are dead and gone, Corin refuses to give up, hoping to find his brother's trail -- or, if necessary, reach the top of the spire and meet the goddess that presides over them to wish for his brother's life to be restored.

The series mixes dungeon crawling content -- both in the aforementioned spires and in other locations -- with learning magic at an academy for people who have passed their Judgments. Those who have completed a Judgment earn an attunement, each of which has distinct magical powers, similar to a character class in a RPG (e.g. Guardian, Mender, Summoner, Shadow, Elementalist, etc.) and that can grow stronger over time.

While there are game-like elements, and this could be called GameLit and occasionally has been called LitRPG, it most clearly falls into the progression fantasy subgenre. Training, learning magic, and increasing personal power in order to achieve goals is a major part of the focus of the series. It is, however, much slower in terms of progression pacing than something like Cradle or Rage of Dragons, with more of an emphasis on incremental learning and improvement rather than large bursts in a short time.

I'll check in periodically if anyone has questions!
