OP spun it like he "beat the system", but it's disingenuous to keep acting like that's the case after you spend hundreds on the printer, dozens more on filament and failed prints getting it calibrated, and amounts of personal time that could easily be valued into the hundreds as well between learning, calibrating, and setting up prints. I think you see my point that it's just not an honest comparison to going on Amazon and buying a lens cap for $10 in about 30 seconds total start to finish.

OP is also lying about the cost of these things:

https://www.amazon.com/Snap-Replaces-Canon-Lenses-Keeper/dp/B01LE4FSSE/

If you have prime one of those can come in 1 day for no additional charge.

It does no one any favors to act like 3D printing is more economical than it is, it's just going to mislead ill-informed people into spending a ton of money for something that will never economically justify itself. I'm not opposed to people doing it as a hobby like this or to test out their 3D CAD skills, but stop with the false equivalency on prices, it just makes you seem ignorant of economics and further misleads the public into thinking these things are all overpriced trinket machines when the real value is making parts that either don't exist anymore (i.e. a plastic part for a vintage car) or for prototyping a new device/invention or even making jigs/fixtures used to make other things. I mean, if you want everyone to think 3D printer owners are deluded idiots, keep on keepin' on I guess.
