I've been using Strathmore sketchbooks for a few years now. They have a lot of different size/binding options and I feel like the paper quality is pretty high for the price point. However, micron pens will show through the 60 lb sketch paper (it won't bleed; it's just visible), so you may want to only draw on one side if you want to scan/photograph your drawings. You can also get heavier Drawing or Mixed Media paper.
For a little higher quality, heavier paper that's suitable for some light watercolor use (which can be fun for maps), I've recently started using Bee Paper.
I avoid suspiciously cheap sketchbooks. The texture of the paper matters, and cheap sketchbooks can feel horrible to draw on, which will lead to you wanting to sketch less.
