If you have a PC you should be able to connect a SATA hard drive internally with the computers STATA cables. No adapter needed. Most computers have extra SATA connections. If you have an older computer with IDE support you can plug the IDE drive in directly as well. If your computer doesnt have IDE you could use an IDE to SATA adapter like the StarTech.
If you dont want to open up your PC and mess with internal computer stuff or if you want to use a laptop, you could use a USB hard drive adapter. This is where it gets a little tricky because not all USB adapters will work. You would want to get an adapter that will work with FatXplorer as that would be the program used for transferring stuff from your PC to Xbox hard drive. This is from the FATXplorer website:
"USB is hit or miss depending on the adapter or docking station used. The USB bridge chip must support ATA pass-though commands, and not consider a locked device defective.
For SATA HDDs, the Sabrent DS-UTC1 works without issue. It uses the ASM235CM chip.
For IDE HDDs, the situation is different. It appears USB 3.0 IDE adapters will not recognize locked HDDs. There is currently one USB 2.0 adapter that is confirmed to support unlocking over USB: this Warmstor adapter. It uses the JM20337/8 chip. The one caveat is that despite being able to unlock HDDs, it will not be able to read/write data after unlocking. The workaround is to unlock, remove the password, and then reconnect it to your PC. Alternatively, you could reconnect the HDD using a USB 3.0 IDE adapter for faster speeds. An IDE drive without a password set should work with any USB 3.0 adapter."
Hey mate,
Sorry I've not replied! I Asked Reolink what to get they suggested something a customer had told them and I got them ordered yesterday come today and it's just come I've just plugged the original Seagate drive in using it and it works a dream!
For anybody wondering this is what I got,
The Sata to Esata cable I bought is this cheap one: PC Arena Esata to Sata Cable 1 m Flat Lead RB-451
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes it does have a UK Power adapter but the US Version can be bought on amazon.com
The links from reolink to Amazon US: Warmstor SATA/PATA/IDE Hard Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for 2.5" 3.5" Hard Disk HDD SSD with External AC Power Supply, Compatible with All Computer System PC Desktop Laptop
The Fact that particular one is not in stock on the US Store is nothing to worry about because you can quite easily find SATA to ESATA Cables.
Picture will show it works perfectly fine 😁
I Don't know if it's nessesary but I did power down the NVR to do it though it only took all of 2 minutes to do highly reccomended!

I Hope this will help others who had my problem! Maybe adding it as a main post would be a good idea for new/other users who might not know like myself.
If you are talking a USB to IDE adapter, this one is recommended by Eaton of FatXplorer. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076WZ1N4K
There are some USB to molex powder adapters, but I have zero experience with them. USB only outputs 5V so I'm not sure how they function.
About 15 years ago I bought an IDE to SATA kit that included a power supply for the drive itself. It was similar to this one. Not great quality by any means but OK just to read some files on older hard drives.
