If you are just starting out and don't want to invest much into a trial, the blurple grow lights are an inexpensive way to get into things. And - they work. To the good, they work great for foliage such as lettuces and house plants. They do make it impossible to see the plant coloration. Years back when LED panels were still new-ish (before Aliexpress) I bought a square foot unit sold as under cabinet grow light, for $40 and was delighted with it. Last year I bought another one for $20 and they still work great for greens. I use both my garage to start and grow out Spring seedlings.
For lettuces this https://ibb.co/ZxCsc0S setup using LED shop lights has been going for four years.

The reason I've featured Amazon only here is that I keep getting Amazon gift cards from the Red Cross for donating blood. I'm a regular donor and thrilled to say my blood money pays for our salads.
