First, I'd like to give the reason why I'm submitting. Between my health club membership and buying healthy foods, I've been having a hard time scraping together the cash to get this food scale. It's only 25$ so I'm definitely interested in buying TWO and giving one away to another LOSEIT member who is strapped for cash and in need of a food scale.

I'm 26 years old, 5' 7", currently 210lbs, down from 255, with a target of 155lbs. I've been at it since September 14th. I've been out of college for a few years and jobless for most of it, just really out of it. fat, lazy, and no self esteem but I've finally got my life on the proper track. I'm hoping to get a job very very soon. A friend of mine is trying to get me a job at starbucks, love their coffee. I've got Google docs logging my meals, activity, and weight lifting from the start.

I do the elliptical for 30-40 minutes per day at a speed of 5-6mph. At the end of december I had a series of disasters, mainly a minor leg injury causing me to miss a few workouts, and my girlfriend of 3 years breaking up with me causing me to miss a few meals. I eat extremely healthy and sometimes I'll have 140 cal 'snack' of air popped popcorn with a few hits of butter spray so the seasonings can stick to the popcorn. I took up swimming a few weeks ago and have been pumping at that pretty hard in addition to the elliptical. I lift weights with dumbbells 3x per week - 30-40 mins per session. I started at a small 8lbs and after 2 months worked my way up to 13lbs, Feb 1 I'm looking to increase it to either 15.5 or 18, I haven't decided yet. I do chest presses 3x per week at the health club. I started at 45lbs and after 2 1/2 months I was able to increase it to 60lbs. Next week (1 1/2 months later) I'm going to increase it to 75lbs.

I know that I can do more in terms of lifting, but in all honesty I'm afraid of dying. I know that sounds weird, but I've got this big belly, use to be much much bigger, and I'm afraid of doing 5x5 stronglifts because I'm afraid I'll have a heart attack or a stroke. I'm also afraid to go on the treadmill which is high impact for the joints. I've been incredibly patient. waiting. waiting. waiting. Once I hit 180lbs I'm going to ditch the elliptical for the treadmill (running outside also), and I'm going to get on a proper lifting program.

I know there are people who have it worse off than me, both in terms of weight and financially, so no hard feelings if someone is in more need than I. Cheers!

I use this one:

http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Kitchen-Silver/dp/B001N07KUE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1427303832&sr=8-4&keywords=digital+food+scale

It's accurate, reasonably priced, and I have been using it for more than 6 or 7 years.

I highly recommend this one. I have had it for a few years now and it still runs like a champ.

For me, I've found the best value in having two scales. I have this one for smaller items. It goes to the nearest tenth of a gram, so that's good enough for me for smaller quantities. This is good for jewelery, small coins, etc.

For weighing a whole stack or something, I also have one of these. It's only accurate to the nearest gram, so the small one is better for small quantities, but this one supports up to eleven pounds and is definitely the best you'll find for the price. I also measure stuff other than my stack on it as well, so this is a decent multipurpose scale.
