I use a MOLE pouch to hold my stuff. Not a fan of chest rigs because A) they limit movement, B) uncomfortable, and C) make paint that hits you easier to break. If you wear a tactical belt (which you should, to connect your holster to), then looping a pouch on that you can buy on Amazon for like $10 is the way to go

I keep the cap on them when I do use them, but it’s a bitch to remove the cap, flip the mag, etc etc. you lose the caps super easy too. I only use my zetas in big games and mostly as backup mags to the tippman extended mags (those are 12 count mags… just as expensive as zeta IIRC but worth the investment IMO).

Airline limits mobility, and kinda defeats the purpose of a pistol IMO. If you have to spend time switching mags you can spend time switching canisters.

Usually my strategy is to open the game dual wielding, and dual wield when I’m pushing. If I’m bunkered down, I load up my sidepiece fully and holster it on my dominant hand side and use the single pistol. I’ll keep reloading that pistol unless I need a quickdraw, where I’ll drop the pistol and draw the loaded sidepiece. When I reload I leave empty mags on the ground like I would pods - I only reload mags themselves between rounds. Good to have a few 10 round tubes on you, but be aware that they notoriously open and spill paint.

My loadout for each game (2 rounds, single elim, like 30 total players):

2 tipx with an extended mag in each and a standard 50g canister. 5-10 10rd tubes 10 50g canisters 8 7rd mags, loaded

During biggames:

2 tipx with zetas and the canisters loaded 30+ canisters on a shotgun shell belt 30+ 10 round tubes 2 additional zeta mags, loaded 2 extended mags, loaded 8 7rd mags, loaded 1-2 pods or guppies (sometimes 1 plus a water bottle) this usually lasts me the whole morning before lunch and then I reload and it lasts the whole afternoon too. Pistols are HARD during biggames btw.

If you have a VR, a good game to get is Pistol Whip. You’ll notice you pull the trigger far less frequently on your non dominant- I use that game to help train my left hand :)

ALSO NEVER STORE PAINT IN THE MAGS! If you’re done for the day, empty them out. There’s a little, somewhat hidden, pressure button at the top next to where the balls are holstered. If you press down on it with a pin or flathead screwdriver then the whole mage will empty out (aim down into a bin, it’s spring loaded). The pressure of the mag will deform balls over a couple of days. You should also clean your mags every 5-10 days of play or when they get dirty. You will have to take them apart and they’re a pain to put back together, but it’s sometimes necessary. There are youtube videos on how to put them back together. Zetas and extended mags are harder to put back together than the standard 7 round, by orders of magnitude.

I’ll post another comment w amazon links to some gear I bought.

Lastly, don’t expect to play particularly great. Your KD rate will be VERY low, especially at first, especially at big games. BUT, it’s great exercise, a ton of fun, you use WAY less paint, and it makes you a significantly better player when you go back to a hightech or standard loadout. I often play dual wields or single pistol plus my airow gun (compound bow that shoots paintballs) for the lulz. Good luck!

Edit: MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A TAC BELT like this: JTENG Men's Military Style... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G8PY70O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share since it’s carrying a lot of weight/tension at times. I’ve had a full on leather belt rip at where the buckle connected midgame while running down a hill which resulted in a hilarious/painful roll down said hill. The harness linked in my other comment will help with the belt so that everything stays in place too.
