If you're willing to try classic Cuban novels I'd strongly recommend Cecilia Valdés which is free for Kindle. I'm also partial to Juan Criollo, although it might be a bit of a drag. It reads like a little bit of a Cuban Le Rouge et le Noir.

As for more modern stuff, judging by your taste, Reinaldo Arenas might be right up your alley.
