We used these while we were gone for 9 days last month and they worked wonderfully! They were the only devices I could find that had the potential for keeping my garden alive without engineering an electronic watering system. The downside is that they are kind of pricey depending on how many you need and the highest water level in the jug of water needs to be LOWER than the tip of the spike (in the ground). So I'm guessing these won't work for you unless you dig a bunch of holes in the ground for water jugs.
