I would advise against the strap-style mount... they are prone to wobble if not tied down 110%. My GF was using a goggle mount for my ContourHD, and because her goggles weren't tight enough the video wobbled up and down like crazy. It was literally nauseating... I had to cut almost all the footage she shot because of this.
This is the closest to what I think might work well for you. Put 3m tape on the flat surface, find a solid point to attach it to your helmet. Screw your camera on... use the two rings to tighten it. I would DEFINATELY attach some sort of leash to your camera until this was a tested and proven way... but it might work for you.
