This one was $15, back up to $20 which isn't a bad deal.
you want to look at the NRR rating on ear protection. NRR is Noise reduction Rating. the higher the number the better they perform. I would probably stick with name brands such as 3M or Howard Leigh vs no-name products.
Foam earplugs will typically have higher NRR ratings than over the ear protection.
Doubling up if shooting indoors, use foam ear plugs AND over the ear protection is your best bet and HIGHLY recommended. Indoor ranges are extremely loud.
Electronic hearing protection is pretty nice as well. they amplify sounds around you, but dynamically block loud noises like gunshots. they typically have a lower NRR than foamies or basic ear muffs but you can use them in conjunction with foamies as well. nice to be able to hear what's going on around you on the range or range commands. All electronic protection is not equal.. some inexpensive electronic hearing protection is junk due to the way it clams sounds by completely cutting everything off, instead of dynamically compressing the loud noises. Don't buy cheap electronic muffs it's a waste of money.
Also some are bluetooth enabled so you can listen to tunes when using them while mowing the lawn or whatever.
Watch some videos to learn how to properly use foam ear plugs.
When using ear muffs you want safety glasses with thin flexible arms so they don't break the seal between the side of your head and the ear muffs.
hope that helps get you started.
These are some of the best disposable ones.
Which did you try? Some are very firm and will hurt your ears. Others are softer and more comfortable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007XJOLG Those are quite comfortable for sleeping.

Dip them in hand sanitizer, then insert. works like a champ.
I cannot sleep without earplugs! They have helped me a ton with the whole insomnia issue. Out of all the different ones I've tried, these are my favorite. They work really well to block sounds, and are a little softer foam wise than other pairs I have used. I've had issues with the pressure being too much on my ear canals after using ear plugs all night. I bought the 200 pack and get a new pair every week or two. Once the earwax builds up I find that is uncomfortable to wear, but I have pretty small ears so it might just be me. My 15 dollar box has lasted me years, and like I said I get a new pair every week. Best of luck!!
