Need a 3rd party tool for Windows to format it since its over 32gb or built in formatting tool for MACOS works fine.
Ok I'm back here
First ur prebuilt ur gonna base this off is an Optiplex 3020.
40 USD.
Next, 2 x 4 gb ddr3 ram.

65 USD.
~ 156.83, not including shipping.
Edit: swapped out 1030 for different one, because the DDR4 ONE STINKS and I accidentally let it in
I just ordered this HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF Desktop PC 3.30GHz Core i5-4590 4GB RAM No HDD for 80$ and a 20$~ ssd. This is going to be my first pfsense box. but it seems solid for what I need.
Some older threads I've looked through suggested refurbished dell optiplexs.
How much does it often cost?
Depends on how much space you want. You can get a 120gb ssd for 20$ though I recommend going with a 500gb one for around 50$ instead.
120gb: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6JQS8C
480gb: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0TQPQB
I recommend sticking to Samsung, Micron (Crucial) and Kingston SSDs. Some of the cheaper off brand ones have reliablity and/or other problems.
