Sure thing! Here is what I bough the first time I whittled.. I cut mine into 3 separate blocks using a hand saw. If you wanna cut the block you'll need a saw of some sort as a whittle is for carving, not directly cutting.
If you get into it I recommend buying "soft woods" you can just google soft wood list and it'll give you a bunch of species. Woods like Purple Heart, which even though it's very pretty, is harder to carve as it's just more dense.
Also, when carving pay attention to the grain (the lines the wood) you can go against it but you're more likely to chip the wood. When you do go against it just be a bit more careful and go easy on it is all. It's a bigger deal when/if you ever get into power tools.
NEVER CUT TOWARDS YOURSELF! AND NEVER HAVE YOUR FINGERS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE BLADE. You probably will scrape some skin along the way, the wood is only so big. I have plenty of cuts on my fingers, just try not to get so cut you need stitches. I've never actually seen that happen but it is a blade.
Anyway I hope you enjoy it! I know I do. Wood is just a really satisfying material to work with. Really makes you feel like a Swanson.
