I have no experience with PC building but I’m trying to put together a computer that my wife and I can use for World of Warcraft. My understanding is that it’s not a particularly demanding game and I know it might be lame to build a computer just for WoW, but I was hoping I would be able to get some advice. My hard budget is $1000 USD since I can’t really rationalize spending more than that just to pretty much play one game, but if it’s at all possible to stay closer to $800 then that would be my preference. Please let me know if there are any better-priced alternatives to the parts on my list. I’m hoping to buy the parts within the next week.

My wife has been getting into doing dungeons and raids on her sister’s computer, so I’d like to be able to make sure our build can support her doing those pretty comfortably. We’ve been totally happy with the performance of the aforementioned computer, which is this model: https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-Aurora-R10-Gaming-Desktop/dp/B09PHCBHZP though I think it’s definitely overkill for our needs.

I’ve been trying to piece together some info from different forums and parts lists that others have created and this is a very rough list that I found and made a couple of adjustments to. I do find the more flashy cases kind of appealing, but if all of the ones within the $65ish dollar range are crap then we can just get something basic. I like ones with the glass side panel and RGB fans but again, not essential.

I’d obviously like to be able to build something that will hopefully be able to support future expansions as much as possible within my price range and not be obsolete after Dragonflight, but I know you can’t really anticipate how the system requirements will increase. I think I’m getting caught up in all of the hype over the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, so it would be cool if I could swing having that processor, but if it isn’t feasible or is totally overkill then I would appreciate other recommendations! I have peripherals but I would need to include an operating system in my budget. I don’t have a 4K monitor anyway, nor am I super graphics savvy, so I don’t really need to be able to run the game on any ultra settings. I really appreciate any help or recommendations and please let me know if there is any additional information I can include that would help. Thank you!
