No problem! That sounds like a good plan.

For basing the miniature I recommend this texture paste from liquitex. It is way cheaper than other brands of texture paste for similar quality.

Vallejo is usually ~$18 for 200 mL

Citadel is $10 for 24 mL

Meanwhile this Liquitex is ~$8 for 250 mL

For painting the base, I recommend buying cheap craft store paints like Americana, FolkArt, or Ceramcoat. No reason to use expensive model paints on dirt haha.
