Must have:
- Button front pajamas - I had 3 pairs I cycled through. This is worth it. I wouldn't count on having the mobility you need to get in and out of shirts with ease.
- Mastectomy pillow - Great for car rides and chilling on the couch. Has pockets and keeps me from bumping into myself
- Wedge pillow set - I call this my "nest" and as a side/stomach sleeper, it kept me from rolling over in my sleep and made it easier to get in and out of bed, too. With a pillow or two stacked on each side, it's magical
- Post-op bras - This one from Amazon and this one from Target - Like another poster mentioned, I have them each in 2 sizes, as the swelling fluctuates significantly throughout the day as well as week to week
- Help to wash your hair OR appointments at a salon for someone else to wash your hair for 1-2 weeks
Nice to have:
- Single-use soft towels to dry breasts after shower - I already had these for my face, but they came in handy
- Whiteboard- used to chart out my medication schedule for the first 2 weeks
- OTC Medications - Tylenol, Advil, Bacitracin, Benadryl and some gauze
- Protein shakes - I like OWYN and these were helpful to get extra protein before and after surgery to help with recovery
- I also have a seatbelt pillow that's still in my car a month later, but I'm not sure if it's essential. It does add some cushioning. If I could remember to bring my mastectomy pillow when I leave the house, I wouldn't feel like this is necessary at all.
