I think the biggest problem here is that coat, which is certainly going to look very "costumey" in comparison to the (very nice) pants, vest and shirt.

A nicer coat would probably cost a bit more, but with that Washington costume I think you're getting a lot of stuff you don't need (everything aside from the coat).

It's also a really bright, plain shade of blue, where I'm liking the deeper hues you've gotten from the rest of the outft. I think if you went hunting a little further for a coat alone, rather than as part of a pre-existing costume, you might find some nice options.

For instance, this coat is the wrong material and cut, but it's different and the related products lead in some interesting directions.

Too bad it's not black we're looking for. There's a lot of fine options, for black.
